Google further explains that they have decided to change their algorithms to adapt to these usage patterns as there has been a substantial increase in number of mobile devices being used to access the internet.

New Algorithms for SEO Rankings
Google has been very forthright about the changes they are going to implement this time over. Unlike numerous occasions earlier, this time, they have specified a target date i.e. 21st April, 2015 for implementing these ranking changes. Google has also been specific about the seriousness of its intent stating that there shall be a ‘significant impact in our search result’, thus deviating from their usual way of effecting the changes without a forewarning.
Google had already given indications about this impending change long time back as it had been encouraging the use of mobile friendly websites and even provided a tool to check the standards required for the same. Google has also been deeply investing in motivating webmasters to step up their mobile optimization efforts.
Besides the final notice issued by Google now, there are other reasons also, to have a mobile optimized website. Customers have started using mobile devices more and more to search for products and services being portable and conveniently available in hand at all times. In this scenario, it has become essential to have your website customized for mobile use for having a larger base. This will increase your rankings and click-throughs and definitely your revenues.
Benefits for Optimizing Websites for Mobiles
Since mobile users are increasing day by day, even without the dictum from Google it is important to optimize your websites for mobile devices, if for nothing else, to help people and to increase the ease of accessibility of your website. The bottom line is that, whatever that makes your site more user friendly and accessible through multiple devices is going to be an important factor in increasing your reach.
Now, organisations that are still resistant to having a mobile-friendly website, either because they lack the resources or don’t see the advantage in doing so will have to change. Google has given some time to these organisations to carry out the mobile optimization of their web properties so that they can make sure their businesses are not hit. Organizations are thus compelled to adopt a successful SEO strategy in 2015 with a mobile-friendly website which will give them higher rankings, and most importantly, increased revenue.
